Greetings from the Creative Workshop ITOASOBI

Our studio was established in 1935 in Tango, Kyoto, which is one of the centers of silk fabric production in Japan.
We stick to the natural fibers, silk and manage a consistent structure from dyeing to weaving with our motto, “Work with cloth from 1m and Kimono from 1tan”.

We use weaving techniques such as hand weaving, Jacquard waving, leno weaving, dobby weaving with our hand-dyed yarn made at the studio.
Also, we plan, manufacture, and sell fabrics (cloth, stoles, and beyond) with the small lot and wide variety production system to add extra value to our items.

In 2021, we introduced a ribbon loom to produce 4mm wide silk ribbons in-house. Silk ribbon is a flat and narrow 4mm wide fabric woven with a loom using raw silk as the warp and weft, and refers to cord in Japan. In addition, we use this silk ribbon for the warp and weft to weave our original fabric called "silk ribbon weave".

“Do you have this kind of fabric?” “Can you make this textile?”
Please feel free to contact us if there are such questions.
